Account Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Account Manager – The Account Manager’s primary focus is to actively manage an assigned book of business working in conjunction with the Producer and assigned service team to ensure each client’s employee benefit plan needs and agreed upon service expectations are met.  The Account Manager works with significant autonomy and demonstrates a high degree of competency in the position. This role requires an individual who is professional and who displays drive, determination and self-motivation. Specifically, your mission will be to service and maintain existing accounts while uncovering opportunities for increasing process efficiencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED.

  • Oversees the servicing of a designated book of business as relating to marketing, claims, and administration.
  • Develops and maintains favorable internal and external relationships, with the end goal of providing the highest level of customer service by meeting or exceeding industry standards.
  • Analyzes, researches and understands complex problems relating to members claim payments, benefit coverage, payroll deduction and client technology.
  • Promptly resolves escalated service issues including eligibility and claims.
  • Provides timely reports to Keystone management as required.
  • Provides a high level of support to Producers in maintaining and expanding business.
  • Appropriately documents conversations with clients and carrier representatives and updates SalesForce and agency management systems, as necessary. Ensures the accuracy of data in those systems.
  • Coordinate marketing projects by gathering required employee and plan documentation such as census data, experience data, current and proposed plan design information.
  • Analyze and compare carrier quotes; negotiate rates in partnership with the Producer and/or Account Executive; coordinate preparation and delivery of renewal / marketing presentation.
  • Coordinate with client and carriers to ensure timely and efficient renewal and/or implementation of employee coverage.
  • Coordinate development of employee communication strategy and preparation of communication materials.
  • Recommend potential enhancements or improvements to processes, products, and/or policies.
  • Develops financial models and reports for client and senior staff, provides interpretation and implication of analysis, as well as recommendations.
  • Engages in Client strategy meetings to manage insured expectations for upcoming term.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance, legal, audit, and other standards are met. Maintain up to date knowledge on compliance, product, insurance, and industry topics.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Organization skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, including ability to work in a team environment.
  • Critical thinking and good judgment to quickly determine and prioritize key issues.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects simultaneously with high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current Life and Health Insurance License
  • Employee benefit industry insurance and experience
  • SalesForce experience
  • Familiarity and practical knowledge of quoting process and tools
  • Knowledge of health and ancillary products

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position required the ability to sit for long periods of time, converse over the telephone and key frequently on a computer (4 hours or more).
